Corellas finish on a High @ Nationals Heading Detail

The NSW Country Women Corellas have wrapped up their representative season with a come from behind 12 – 10 win over the ACT on the final day of the National Championships.

A day three win has seen the Corellas leapfrog the ACT to claim third spot at the National Championships, and somewhat ease the pain of the disappointing results against Sydney and Queensland.

After trailing the ACT 7 – 0 early in the match the Corellas were looking at a never before heard of winless National Championships, but they rallied to tackle the ACT out of the match and at the same time cross for two tries to one to take out the match.

The Corellas had been seeded in Division One of the new structured championships which saw them take on the heavy weights of ACT, Sydney and Queensland over three days of competition in Canberra.

The opening two matches had seen the Corellas out muscled in the second half by both Sydney (36 – 5) and Queensland (42 – 7), and the ACT were expected to complete the clean sweep following their close losses to Sydney and Queensland.

Someone forgot to tell the Corellas and they proved the experts and tipsters wrong when they caused the upset of the National Championships.

Sydney claimed the 2010 National Championship Title with wins over the ACT, NSW Country and Queensland to reclaim the title from Queensland.

Final National Championship standings:

1 – Sydney, 2- Queensland, 3 – NSW Country, 4 – ACT.
