Naming Sponsor for Cockatoos
New South Wales Country Rugby Union is pleased to announce eastern Australia’s largest grain company GrainCorp has been secured as the naming sponsor for the NSW Country Cockatoos.
The flagship of Country Rugby will be known as the “GrainCorp NSW Country Cockatoos” following the announcement of a partnership arrangement between the two organisations.
NSW Country President Bruce Worboys in making the announcement said “GrainCorp is a high profile regional organisation which has a close involvement and affinity with the communities of country NSW.”
He added “GrainCorp’s association with NSW Country Rugby, in particular with the Cockatoos, was a huge bonus for the Union and was a direct flow on from the Cockatoos’ undefeated 2010 season.”
GrainCorp CEO Alison Watkins said “GrainCorp is an important part of regional NSW, and we recognise the importance of sport to regional communities. Sponsorship of NSW Country Rugby fits well with our corporate community values, as many of the company’s staff, customers and suppliers are actively involved with local rugby clubs.”
Ms Watkins went on to say “The association with NSW Country Rugby continues GrainCorp’s policy of supporting community initiatives and sporting associations in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.”
The GrainCorp NSW Country Cockatoos’ program in 2011 will kick off in April and will incorporate matches against the ACT, Melbourne, NSW Sub Districts and Queensland Country, several of which will be curtain raisers to Super Rugby matches.
