Shoalhaven host Waratah Trial Heading Detail

Shoalhaven to stage Super Rugby trial

Waratahs Rugby has again committed to taking the HSBC Waratahs to the people of New South Wales with the announcement that the team will complete their pre-season preparations on the states South Coast.

Coach Chris Hickey and Captain Phil Waugh were flown to the HMAS Albatross base in Nowra to speak at a Naval Officers Conference, and took time out to meet with local offcials at Shoalhaven Rugby Park to launch the pre-season fixture.

The HSBC Waratahs will play two trials against the Emirates Western Force at Shoalhaven Rugby Park in Nowra on Thursday 10 February, eight days before the Super Rugby season opener against the Melbourne Rebels. This will follow the first trial match of 2011 on Friday 4 February.

Were always looking to take the team around the state to show were not just a team for Sydney, but for all of New South Wales,” said Hickey. Last year we went to the far north coast and the central west of the state and the response was fantastic. The HSBC Waratahs generate great enthusiasm from the Rugby public in the regional areas who rarely get the opportunity to see the biggest names in any sport in their own backyard.”
